Introduction to Australian Energy Efficiency GEMS

summary
The energy consumption performance of electronic and electrical products has attracted more and more attention from ordinary consumers, and many countries have formulated corresponding energy efficiency regulations. MEPS is the minimum energy efficiency standard set by the Australian government. The full name of MEPS is Minimum Energy Perance Standard. It was renamed GEMS from October 1, 2012. The full name of GEMS is Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards
Registration fee

1 Australian dollar is about 4.6 yuan

Registration Authority

After MEPS is changed to GEMS, the original Australian state authorities will no longer accept registration, and registration will be carried out uniformly with the Australian GEMS Regulator.

Note: If the customer is a New Zealand customer, he or she can register with the New Zealand Regulator for free. After registration, the product can also be sold in Australia, but it must be imported to New Zealand first and then exported to Australia.

GEMS controlled products
The following products can only be sold in Australia after being registered with the Australian official agency:
Air conditioning
Electric water heater
Gas water heater
Three-phase motor
Distribution Transformers
Commercial Refrigerator
External power supply
Set-top box
TV
Linear fluorescent lamp ballast
Linear fluorescent lamp

Testing and registration cycle

Testing and registration cycle
Depending on the product category, testing can usually be completed in 5-15 working days.
Registration usually takes around 4-6 weeks.
Registration is usually completed by local customers in Australia. If you need to register through an agent, you need a local customer in Australia to provide an agent authorization letter.

Korea Energy Efficiency Certification (MEPS Certification)

The Ministry of Knowledge Economy has implemented the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) under the Energy Efficiency Labeling and Standards Regulation since 1992. Starting from January 1, 2009, adapters (adaptors, including all adapters from AC to AC and AC to DC) and mobile phone chargers must obtain EK certification and energy efficiency certification if they need to be sold in the Korean market.

1. Certified product scope

21 products including refrigerators and air conditioners;
General power adapter (output power less than 150W);
Mobile phone lithium battery charger (input power less than 20W).

2. Certification preparation matters

(1) Number of samples: 3 (if you apply for EK at the same time, a total of 3 samples are also required);
(2) Testing fees vary according to different products;
(3) Testing period: 5 days, registration and certification time with KEMCO: 3 days;
(4) Documents required:
Circuit diagram;
Product label;
Information about Korean sellers: Business license (business No.) and contact number of Korean sellers.

3. Certification application process

Apply to KETI;
Testing at KETI (5 days);
KETI contact Korean seller;
Registration at KEMCO (3 days).

4. Other matters

When applying for Korean energy efficiency certification, you must provide the business license of the local Korean seller, and the holder of the Korean energy efficiency certification must be a local Korean seller, not a Chinese factory or Chinese agent. The original report will only be sent to South Korea for sales. suppliers, but we will first provide the electronic file of the energy efficiency report to the factory.
Within 60 days after the energy efficiency report is issued, the Chinese factory must ask local Korean sellers to register on KEMCO’s website. If the report is not registered within 60 days, the report will expire and become invalid.
When applying for energy efficiency, the energy efficiency label must be affixed to the sample.

5. Energy efficiency label

If the model name of a product is ABC-12345, its energy efficiency label is as follows:
